the 21st November last, after a comparatively short and easy labour; in which, however, the forceps had to be used, on account of the feebleness of the pains, the head having remained at the outlet for about an hour. Her two previous labours were natural and easy, and required no instrumental assistance. On the fourth day after delivery she was seized with a rigor, followed by smart pain over the abdomen, which was intensified by pressure, but relieved, and finally made to disappear, by hot turpentine poultices and opiates.
